Every morning I grab my dog and go for a walk, my lone companion. Today, like every day for a week, the rain pours down on us. I keep going because this walk is part of our ritual, its just me, Diesel, and my crushing loneliness.

“Last week the yellow and the orange bell peppers were the same price as the green ones! Do you have any idea how excited I was?!” Margot exclaimed to a half-listening coworker. It was at this exact moment she realized she would die alone.

Ryan walked through the deserted downtown area, overturned cars and debris cluttering what use to be a functioning city. He thought he saw someone in the distance and ran over to them, desperate for human contact. When he got there Ryan realized that his mind was playing tricks on him… again.
